Luba anthopomorphic pendant and a strange story

This object tells a story a little bit strange and bizarre, that says a lot about how all collectors are bound, perhaps too heavily, to the opinion of experts ...
Last year I showed it, along with other pieces of different nature, to one of the leading experts in the world of African art, probably the most reputed among all relatively Congolese art, p. François Neyt, during a visit at his residence in Belgium.
Neyt, apparently (I say this from what then will follow), looked at it without the necessary attention and while he was answering some questions about other objects and sent it away, shaking his head ...
I, convinced that the object was not "good", put it in the department "unauthentic" of my collection and thought no more about it. I was even to give it away for a birthday ...
This year Neyt has returned the visit and came to Parma for a week to see the pieces of the museum. In a break he did me the honor of asking me to visit my little private collection, and because of this of course I was filled with joy. Many compliments for a collection "well done", but that's another story ... The point I am telling here is that, among some articles stored in bulk (the department above) Neyt noted the small pendant Luba and praised it.
"But it's what I showed you last year and you told me that was not authentic!" - I immediately said.
"I never said this - was his response -" and among other things I do not remember having ever seen it... this is a good piece!"
Moral satisfaction, the object is returned in the window of pieces of quality, knowing that when you ask something you should always be very aware of the answer!
